In psychotherapy, we often mention the term "personality disorder", and I wonder if any of you have ever encountered or participated in related therapy?
What are the characteristics of clients with personality disorders?
Simply put, a personality disorder is a psychological problem that deviates significantly from normal patterns of behavior and is deeply rooted. It can make it difficult for the individual to adapt to daily life, seriously affect social and professional relationships, or cause extreme distress. Typical characteristics of clients with personality disorders include: cognitive, emotional, and behavioral patterns that are clearly abnormal; patterns of behavior that are pervasive, stable over time, and difficult to change; poor ability to adapt to the environment, which can lead to tensions in relationships or impaired occupational functioning; and a lack of self-awareness that makes it difficult for clients to recognize that they have a problem.
